The last couple of days have been extremely inspiring. On an artistic level, INCEPTION and the final volume of the SCOTT PILGRIM epic have shown me two brilliant artists at the peak of their game and the possibility of how starting small can end up turning into something majestic. CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, the director of the former, started out as a little known film maker in the indie circles who kept reels of his first picture in his fridge cause he couldn't afford to get the film processed. BRYAN LEE O'MALLEY, the artistic force who created the latter, started as a little known writer/artist in the indie comics scene who's first big break in the industry came as a letterer of all things.
Such meager beginnings for both men, but talent transcends all circumstances. That lesson I'm taking straight to heart because it gives me hope that maybe, if I cross all my T's and dot all my I's, I can end up somewhere in their proximity.
Put in the work, give it your all, grind 'til you can't grind no more.
There is a happy ending out there. You just have to go out there and get it.
Time to get back to it then.
